Charles & Barbara Burton
The Burton Band is an entertainment fixture in Oklahoma City and one of the premiere bands in the State of Oklahoma. Charles and Barbara Burton have been playing music together for over 40 years. Charles, the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist, has played with Gladys Knight and the Pips, as well as on the Tom Jones Show. Barbara was featured with the Jazz Messengers and recognized at the 15thAnnual Granny Awards. She has also played with Roger Miller and Brenda Lee. The couple has opened for Nancy Wilson, Della Reese and Vic Damone. The Burton Band also features Charles and Barbara’s son, Tre, the group’s drummer.
Charles and Barbara are Tulsa natives and graduates of Booker T. Washington High School. Charles also worked as a principal at Gateway Elementary in Oklahoma City, and Barbara as a physics and biology teacher at Douglas High School.

The Burton Band has been entertaining in the Oklahoma City area for almost 20 years. They can play all types of music, including Rhythm & Blues, Country & Western, Easy Listening and Jazz. They have been the house band at the Waterford for the last seven years, attesting to not only their versatility, but the quality of their performances.
In addition to performing with the Burton Band, Barbara and Charles Burton have performed with many top name entertainers, including Nancy Wilson, Delia Reese and Vic Damone. Charles & Barbara were inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in 2001.
Whether quiet background music for a cocktail party or the more out front sounds of the latest dance rhythms, the Burton Band has something to please everyone.
